Do you yearn to cross-step and perch on the nose, just like them, but not sure how to do it? Or are you a beginner who wants a chance to ask all the questions you have about how to improve, catch more waves and longer rides?

Carla Zamora grew up at First Point Malibu, one of the best longboarding waves in the world. Under the guidance of her father as well as a long list of logging legends, Carla learned the proper nuances exclusive to traditional longboarding.

This fall and winter, join Carla for a series of one-hour workshops at Traveler Surf Club & Coastal Outpost , geared specifically for the longboarder looking to improve their game. The workshops will progress from basic beginner level through to more advanced techniques and topics.

Come for the sessions that are of most interest to you, or sign on for the full set so that you can build on new knowledge each time.

Untamed Daughters is an event experience, conceptualized by Changing Tides Foundation and GrlSwirl, to bring together untamed, unconventional and adventurous women for a day of community, environment, action sports and empowerment.

This was the first-ever Untamed Daughters event which took place in Venice beach in the summer of 2019! Some of the special guests and attendees included: Rochelle Ballard, Elena Hight, Lex Weinstein, Sian Hurst and Laura Thornhill Caswell.

The event would not have been made possible without the support of Rothys , Vuori, Marine Layer, GoPro, Mizu, & The Butcher's Daughter. Huge thanks to all the sponsors who donated to our goodie bags and to the day as well: Boz Tea, Zola, ClifBar, Leus Towels, Aloha Collection, Simply Straws, Avasol & Summer of Surf. Thanks to our after-party sponsors Juneshine, Lone Wolfs , Carver, Big Daddy's Pizza, Dersu, King Archie Band & Winter.

It’s the summer of 1957, and there’s a new face on the California surfer scene, Kathy Kohner. Although small, she is mighty, tackling waves four times her height. But, in order to do so, she needs to get that pesky long board out from the rear window of her family’s Buick…

Looking to make some friends after years abroad, Kathy has gone to the beach with her family in search of some worthy prospects. With long board in tow, a clear choice seems to be a group of guys in search of the perfect wave…surfers. No one is fully accepted into the surfer subculture until they are given a nickname, and after proving herself in the squall, Kathy will eventually be dubbed Gidget by her buddies — a hybrid for girl and midget, due to her diminutive 5'1" stature. Over the summer, during the car rides back to Brentwood from Malibu, Kathy will go on to tell her parents about her new friends, experiences, and, of course, nickname, inspiring her father to write Gidget: The Little Girl with Big Ideas — a book that would become so popular it would eventually evolve into a book series, movie series, TV series, comic book, and documentary. While Kathy will eventually give up surfing, her legend will live on in the form of Gidget — cowabunga!
