Meet Lou Porter. A California Native, who loves the beach, surfing and sharing her stories and experiences everyone she encounters. Lou has been coming to Topanga Beach, just north of Los Angeles for years. She takes photos and videos of people surfing and posts them to Instagram and Facebook. Although not a surfer herself she has become a staple in many people's daily routines greeting them as they go in and out to surf.

Lou is committed, she follows the surf charts and on days when there is surf, makes her way from Chatsworth to the beach, a 20 mile commute over the Santa Monica mountains but when the surf is up Lou is there.

A couple of us surfers want to support Lou to get her an upgrade. We are looking to get people from the community to pool together to get her a new camera with a zoom and tripod, to support her. Most of all we want to share our appreciation and enthusiasm for her dedication to the beaches we surf at most.

The Coronavirus Lockdown claims another local event.

"It is with great sadness, we announce that the Malibu Chili Cook-Off hosted by the Boys & Girls Club of Malibu will not be taking place this year."

The organizers of Malibu Chili Cook-Off recently made the announcement about the annual Labor Day Weekend Event.

"This was a very difficult decision that we hoped would come to a different outcome. 2020 has been a tumultuous year, no doubt, and with the recent spikes in cases and the near future being unpredictable, we feel this is the best decision in interest of our community’s health and safety. We have weighed all possible options, and we cannot hold an event that may further jeopardize the well-being of our community."

A new video uploaded of Laird Hamilton from the Hurricane Marie swell.

On Saturday, Lost Hills Sheriff reported that both eastbound lanes and #1 westbound lane of PCH closed at the Malibu Pier due to a motorcycle crashing into a vehicle. Reports say the crash was caused by the vehilce making an illegal u-turn from the shoulder.

July started off good, and we got a ton of surf photos from a bunch of days at different spots, from Venice up to County Line.

Below is the list of Surf Spots with the days we got photos for during the entire month of July. Each link will take you to the page with a few surf photos and at the bottom of those photos there will be a link to that photographer's gallery where you can find all the surf photos for that day (many times there's well over 100 photos to check out). Most of these photographers offer high-res downloads and prints for sale.

According to Lost Hills Sheriff, on Friday "deputies contacted a male adult on the beach, showing signs of being under the influence. The man was arrested for felony possession of concealed knife, possession of suspected methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia."

"Deputies are out daily to ensure the safety of all beach goers," they posted on their Facebook Page.

Here's some of the surf photos from Monday at First Point, Malibu.

Classic longboard surfing at its finest filmed by Andrea Coleman.

Looks like the rumors and fears of another lockdown may be true, the City OF Malibu just announced these closures:

"Due to current COVID-19 conditions, and to protect the health and safety of visitors and City staff, Malibu Bluffs Park and the Temporary Skate Park will temporarily close effective immediately."

"We hope to reopen the Skate Park as soon as possible, and apologize for the inconvenience this may cause to our local skaters."

"Due to the closure, we have suspended reservations through our online booking system, and all current reservations in the system have been canceled."

City Manager Reva Feldman told KBUU News that Sheriff's deputies have been called to Bluffs Park "multiple times every day to try and enforce the rules. Skaters are not following the limit of people allowed in the skate park (12 max) and are not leaving when asked by city staff."

"Parents are refusing to wear masks and continue to congregate."

According to the National Hurricane Center, Tropical Storm Cristina will become a hurricane on Friday.

Unfortunately, Cristina’s small size is the main thing preventing it from producing a swell of significance for SoCal. We should see some small waves, waist-high and below, at the south-southeast exposed spots by the end of the weekend.

SurfAid has just uploaded a video from their 2018 SurfAid Cup event in Malibu. Perfect timing, due to the Coronavirus closures, we haven't had any recent events to feature.

On September 8, the SurfAid Cup Malibu 2018 saw super-fun waves roll down first point, and competitors took full advantage. Over $74,000 was raised for SurfAid's Mother and Child Health Programs, which make a huge difference to the lives of people in communities connected to us through surfing. SurfAid

Photographer, Timothy White, takes you behind the lens on his shoot with N.W.A. following the release of their break album, Straight Outta Compton. Timothy recounts his experience riding in Dr. Dre's Mercedes, the moment the surfer walked into the frame that Timothy just barely captured as Dre was making a phone call. An incredible set of photos of an iconic group by a young photographer that would go on to make a name for himself in the world of celebrity photography.

The new temporary Malibu Skatepark opens on Friday.

Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, the Temporary Skate Park will open with limited hours and a capacity of 12 skaters at one time. An online reservation system is now available, which allows skaters to reserve up to one hour of skate time daily, seven days in advance. The skate park will be open daily from Noon to 8:00 PM/Sunset.

You can read the Covid-19 Safety Guidelines for the Temporary Skate Park below, or make a reservation, CLICK HERE

LA County Sheriff Alex Villanueva has made a couple statements showing he is upset about the beach closures scheduled for this 4th Of July weekend, and that the sheriff department will only be enforcing the parking and vehicle codes.

"We were not consulted on the beach closure, and will only assist our beach cities in closing parking lots and traffic enforcement on PCH," Villanueva told Fox 11 on Monday. "In regards to enforcing the beach closure, we will not be enforcing it because we are 'Care First, Jail Last.'"

On Tuesday he stated, "Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department advises the beaches are CLOSED Fri, Jul 3-Mon Jul 6. Enforcement efforts will be focused on vehicle & penal code violations, beach parking lot closures, & street parking restrictions. Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department beach patrol will be patrolling the county beaches to ensure public safety"

Now his statements are in contrast to those made by the Lost Hills Sheriff Department, who stated: "Today, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors announced the closure of our beaches, piers, beach bike paths, and beach access points beginning 7/3/2020 through 7/6/2020. The Malibu/Lost Hills Station Beach Team will be patrolling the beaches throughout the weekend and late into the evening. This new order makes it illegal to trespass at these locations and is punishable by law to include, but not limited to, a $1000 fine."

So now where are back to all the police and city officials being all confused again about what to due. More contradicting statements from different city official clowns will follow.

The City Of Malibu announced all that they are fulling closing all their beaches this upcoming weekend, "NO watersports, walking, jogging, gatherings, fireworks."

As we all know already, Barbara Ferrer, the clueless idiot who is Director of Public Health Los Angeles, wants all the beaches in Los Angeles County closed. So instead of all the crowds at the beaches, all the crowds are just going to gather at the parks and other event venues where the air is not as clean as along the coast (hence why we call this lady a clueless idiot).
