The Chevy Tahoe, that is said to be the cause of the brush fire in the Bollona Wetlands, had been parked there for over one week, according to several people who had drove by it regularly.

Over 3 acres were scorched by the fire, a pissed off resident made a video of the aftermath:

A pissed off resident made a video of the aftermath of brush fire in the Bollona Wetlands, that scorched over 3 acres.

On Saturday at approximately 5:34PM, a brush fire broke out in the Ballona Creek Wetlands.

According to Brian Humphrey of the LAFD: "LAFD ground and air response with nearby LACoFD in Automatic Aid, to one-quarter (0.25) acre light grass burning in the Ballona Creek Wetlands." Where Culver and Jefferson Bluvds meet is where the fire was burning.

A video (posted below) shows that it was most likely caused by a Chevrolet SUV that caught fire.

Whether that SUV being driving or being used as a home is not yet known.

The fire, known as the "Jefferson Fire", grew rapidly from 0.25 acre to 3.5 acres.

At 6:10PM, Humprey updated the fire's status that "The 86 LAFD responders assigned by ground and air (Joined by nearby LACoFD and Culver City FD ground crews in Automatic Aid) are making significant progress on the blaze." The fire was being held at "Major Emergency" status. No injuries and no structures were threaten. Closures of one or more lanes of Culver Boulevard and Jefferson Boulevard west of Lincoln Boulevard woukld continue until LAFD operations are completed.

By 6:30PM, the updated was that the LAFD had "fully contained the perimeter of the blaze at three and one-half (3.5) acres of vegetation in less than one hour. No injury. No structures damaged."

Humprey updated the possible cause, "Though the genesis of the fire appears related to a full-sized sport utility vehicle that was well involved with fire, with flame fanned by light on-shore wind already spread into nearby volatile vegetation on LAFD arrival, the specific and official cause of the fire has yet to be determined."

LAPD Investigators have located skeletal remains in the Ballona Wetlands.

They were searching for a woman, Kolby Story, who went missing in the Mar Vista area in December

Kolby Story, 32, was last seen in the early morning hours of December 7, 2020, in the 12300 block of Pacific Avenue in Mar Vista. According to reports from December, a few hours before she went missing, Story had called a friend from Venice to help her find her car keys. Around 2 a.m., she left Venice and drove in the direction of her Mar Vista home, but she never made it home.

Her car was later discovered in a Marina del Rey impound lot. The car, with a flat tire, had been towed from a parking lot near a Ralphs grocery store in Marina del Rey.

New search efforts for Story were underway Friday after some of her belongings were found near the area and turned over to the Los Angeles Police Department.

LAPD's Robbery-Homicide Division investigators, Pacific Division personnel, and Metropolitan Division, along with California Office of Emergency Service, Fire and Rescue Division K9 Search Teams, and Story’s family members and friends, Started conducting a search of the Ballona Wetlands Ecological Reserve and Ballona Creek for Story Friday morning. The Rose Ave storm drain at Venice Beach was also searched.

Friday afternoon it was announced that LAPD Investigators have located skeletal remains in the Ballona Wetlands. The coroner's office will remove the remains & conduct their investigation. They are unable to confirm anything further related to the remains.

Story was described by police as being 5’4'' tall, weighing 115 lbs. She has brown hair and hazel eyes. Her family in December offered a $100,000 reward for her safe return.

Anyone with information regarding Story's case was asked to contact the Los Angeles Police Department, Robbery-Homicide Division, at 213-486-6890. During non-business hours or on weekends, calls should be directed to 1-877-LAPD-24-7.

That huge 2-story homeless shed in Marina Del Rey has finally been tore down.

It was built by this guy from the Camino Island area north of Seattle, who came to Los Angeles to be a musician, after he failed to make it as one in Nashville. His name is Sean Tyrrell.

Sean was not homeless when he first arrived in Venice, he was staying at the Pod Share, but apparently he got into some arguements because of his music and got kicked out.

“From there I slept in my car three or four nights just around the area looking for places I could pitch a tent. I finally settled on this place." Sean told an interviewer. "Back then, there were other people living here on the sidewalk but not jammed like in other parts of the city. The people that were here got paid to leave. I was offered $100 but I’d already made good progress with my building. I’m legally here and I've obviously spent a lot of time investing in the structure. The offer was an insult.”

So for almost a year, Sean has been building up his shed and battling his residents of the area. He claims they send people to harm him and damage his property. “There’s a few people in the neighborhood who were paying people to attack me for no reason."

L.A.F.D. claimed his "artist studio" to be a definite fire hazard. And after months and months of complaints to the city, it was finally tore down.

Full interview with this guy from March can be read here on Facebook.
