On Saturday Boarding 4 Breast Cancer held their annual Skate The Coast event. A fundraising skate event where the participants skate, or bike, from the Santa Monica Pier down the coast to Redondo beach. This year, they raise $48,550!! That will go towards B4BC’s education and prevention programs and their young Survivor Mountain/ Ocean wellness retreats. Check out some photos from the Santa Monica and Venice portion of the skate journey.

The Santa Monica Pier Paddle is now called the Santa Monica Pier 360 Ocean Sports & Beach Festival . And the name isn't the only thing new, it's now a 2-day event and they added an "epic, gravity-defying skate experience", whatever that means. Here's the press release about the skateboard event:

Red Bull is bringing an epic, gravity-defying skate experience to Pier 360 featuring local legend, Jeff Ho, and top skaters from around Los Angeles. Attendees can watch skaters 360 over the Pacific and if they want to get in on the action, they can attend demos and workshops led by local skate legends.

Here's the video from the Memorial Skate Session in honor of beloved Venice Skatepark local Liam "Red" Taylor, who passed away in a surfing accident earlier this month.

The pool at the Venice Skatepark is finally getting all the coping replaced with new coping that is supposed to be slicker and stronger than the old coping. A small section replaced last month after having been vandalized a few month before.

CA Skateparks was hard at work this morning ripping out the old coping, and laying the new coping in place.

After hosting They Will Surf Again in Santa Monica last month, Life Rolls On's Get On Board 2017 Tour continues with another local event, They Will Skate Again.

Held in the Venice Skatepark, this is another free event, but instead of getting waves, this is a skate clinic for people of all ages with disabilities who want to ride the skatepark in their wheelchairs. From first timers to seasoned pro wheelchair athletes, this was an all day skate clinic with a Grom Contest.

More than a day of recreational activity, They Will Skate Again also serves as an exceptional opportunity for individuals with SCI and their families to network and establish new support networks outside traditional group support settings. Founded by world champion quadriplegic surfer Jesse Billauer, Life Rolls On is dedicated to improving the quality of life for young people affected by spinal cord injury. Believing that adaptive surfing and skating could inspire infinite possibilities beyond paralysis.
