A 30-foot whale carcass washed ashore Saturday morning at the Will Rogers between tower 14 and 15. The Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to the beach around 8:20 a.m. after receiving a call about the carcass.

A rescue group is taking samples of blubber and vertebrae to determine a cause of death, said Pono Barnes with L.A. County Fire. The area was roped off which for the day to ensure safety to emergency workers and beach goers.

The Los Angeles County Department of Beaches and Harbors got a third party contractor to safely remove the carcass from the beach.

On Friday, July 5th, 2019, a shark jumps up out of the water near surfers at Sunset Surf Spot just north of Santa Monica, CA.

Earlier the same morning there was a Shark Sighting At The Venice Breakwater


A group has started a petition to get a skatepark built in Malibu. They are on Instagram at @malibuskatepark and they officially got the petition for a skatepark on the agenda for the city council meeting on July 8.

If you would like to show support and attend the meeting, you can meet them in front of the Malibu City Hall on Monday, July 8th at 6:00pm.

They say they are going to start construction at the end of the year, and say it should be open sometime in 2012. And it looks like it's gonna be run like a golf resort, be all fancy mancy and stuffs, but who knows.... Anyhows, here's some more info:

The lifeguard tower on the Venice Pier was broken into late Friday night.

The unofficial info we got was that one or two people broke into the tower, they rummaged through everything and made a mess. They smoked out while inside, then they took off with 2 surfboards that were stored in there. We will update with more info and the board photos once they are available.
