It's official, ZJ Boarding House announced today that they will be closing the shop for good.

"We are so grateful for all the love and support over the last 32 years. We couldn’t have done it without all of you! Sunday will be our last day open—we will close at 6pm." they wrote this afternoon on their Instagram.

Why is ZJ closing? Well, it has nothing to do with the Coronavirus. Business has been good (of course, you've all seen the increase in surfers in the water these past few months). We unofficially found out it was due to the lease negotiations. The shop was actually getting ready the building to be renovated and remodeled, hence the "remodeling sale" that had been going on for the past two weeks. Then all of a sudden, the powers that be and the landlord couldn't agree on a new lease, so now that "remodel sale" is now a "closing sale". So if you ever wanted some ZJ Boarding House tees, hats, or hoodies, better head down there this weekend.

So with the shop closing is that the end of the Night Sesh Surf Movie Nights and Annual Haunted Heats Surf Contest? Well,....they may still happen, stay tuned.

According to Surfline, "S/SSW swell holds Wed then fades late week as selective tropical swell peaks."

Wednesday, August 12th: S/SSW swell offers 3-5′ surf at focal points. Lightest wind in the AM.
SSW/S swell (195-180) holds, small NW windswell creeps up, and selective SSE swell from Elida creeps in late. Fun-zone surf (3-4′ faces) continues at the better breaks across western North LA. Standouts in those regions go larger at times. Variable to light onshore W/WNW wind early trends onshore through the morning. Light to moderate WNW winds for the afternoon.generally clean conditions early (some spots may see a touch of surface lump/bump). Winds are trending light+ onshore through the morning from the W. Light+ to locally moderate onshore winds pick up for the afternoon adding bump/texture at most spots.

Thursday, August 13th: Blend of SSW/SSE swell offers 3-4’+ surf at focal points. Lightest wind in the AM.
Selective SSE trending S swell from Elida peaks in the morning as old SSW/S swell (195-180) eases. Modest, local NW windswell energy blends in. Rideable to fun-zone surf (2-3’+ faces) continues at the better breaks across western North LA. Standouts go larger at times. Variable to light onshore W/WNW wind early trends onshore through the mid to late-morning. Light to moderate WNW winds for the afternoon are strongest for North LA.
