Heal The Bay has been the LA County coordinator for Coastal Cleanup Day for more than 30 years, and 2020 proved to be a completely different cleanup effort than years past.

The top 10 items found across Los Angeles County in the month of September were:



Coastal Cleanup Month was the first initiative of this scale to track the impact of the improper disposal of single-use personal protective equipment (PPE) in LA County. In the first year of tracking this item, PPE was one of the top 10 items found by Heal The Bay volunteers, surpassing common items like glass bottles.

LA Graffiti Pioneer RISK talks to Pep Williams - Fine Art Photographer - 3rd Generation DogTown Skater - World Traveler. Risk and Pep talk about art, photography, Venice Beach and Graffiti.

Pep Williams is a self-taught African-American fine art and street photographer, director, entrepreneur, philanthropist and former professional skateboarder who grew up in South Central Los Angeles, California. He has traveled globally creating material for his photography exhibitions, which often feature real life portraits of heavily tattooed individuals. He is one of the only photographers we has ever been granted access into the California State Prison System where he created a series of inmate portraits titled - Out Of Bounds.

Two Separate brush fires Saturday afternoon at the Malibu Bluff Park. Named the "Wave Fire", 24255 W Pacific Coast Highway, appproximately 1 acre each on the coast side. Lane closures East/Westbound Pacific Coast Highway.

Per LA County Fire, at 6:30PM, they have advised the fire in Malibu is out. All lane closures Pacific Coast Highway will still be in effect due to equipment and clean up in the area. Unknown ETA for when lanes will be reopened.


Mike, aka German in Venice, vlogs about daily life in Venice Beach. His newest video is part 4 of his series on the homeless encampments that have taken over Venice Beach. In this video, he visits with a long time friend.

"Today, I went to see my friend I known for a long time. His name is Gucci. He’s been homeless for years. I visit him at his location where he sleeps in a tent, even though he’s homeless and does not have much, his spirit is incredible. He’s very funny and he loves life. I had a great time talking to him."

“We are excited to welcome families back to playgrounds across the City. We ask for everyone’s cooperation in following the guidelines and posted signage so that we can get outside and play safely,” said Interim City Manager Lane Dilg.

But city has let the meth zombie army takeover several parks, which will still make the unsafe for children and adults. That's something Interim City Manager Lane Dilg will refuse to address.


Take note, Los Angeles is going to start enforcing parking regulations again, starting Thursday October 15th.


Big news day at Venice Beach today, first the dead body , now a shooting.

PDRScanner reports a shooting on the Venice Boardwalk at 6:45PM on Wednesday.

Shooting happened at Venice & Ocean Front Walk. The victim was shot while their vehicle, which has Colorado plates (possible rental car).

Suspects fled in a black Mercedes van eastbound on Venice Blvd.

Victim was shot in the chest. Conscious & breathing was the last info announced. According to Officer Mike Lopez of the Los Angeles Police Department, the victim’s vital signs were stable at last check.
