Celebrating and honoring the birthplace of Southern California's iconic beach culture through competition, awareness, and entertainment.

Join us for an all-day, family friendly celebration of decades of surf, paddleboard and lifeguard history.

The pier deck will also feature hula dancing, beer and spirits garden, live music and a surf history museum celebrating the history of lifeguarding, paddleboarding, surfing, and skateboarding around the Santa Monica Pier.

Surfing’s history – from Africa to Polynesia to the Americas – is one that’s rich, diverse, and incredibly nuanced. So much so, that we are only beginning to scratch the surface and understand it. Voiced by Selema Masekela, the film explores the varied roots of surfing’s origin and its subsequent cultural evolution into what we recognise today.

Update from Police state it was a homeless man.


Enjoy scenic images by local photographers at the Malibu Arts Commission's next public art exhibition, "Malibu Perception," in the Malibu City Hall Gallery.

The City of Malibu Arts Commission presents Malibu Perception, a photography exhibition featuring five local artists. Participating artists include Carla Bowman Smith, Julie Ellerton, Nicole Fisher, Maureen Haldeman and Dave Teel.

The exhibition is located in the Malibu City Gallery located at Malibu City Hall. The Opening Ceremony will take place on Saturday, April 30 at 4:00 PM.

Visitors may view the artwork Monday - Friday from 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM from May 2 - May 31. Admission is free.
