From Santa Monica Close Up:

"In an unusual turn of events on Monday, November 6, 2023, at Santa Monica Beach, maintenance personnel came across a woman trapped within the confines of the Pico Storm Drain. The woman, whose entry into the drain remains a mystery, sought assistance from the maintenance team. Swiftly responding to the call for help, Los Angeles County Lifeguards arrived at the scene and utilized bolt cutters to remove the lock on the fence that impeded access.

A lifeguard descended into the storm drain and hoisted the woman to safety. Following the successful rescue, the lifeguards offered medical support, which the woman declined before departing from the location. The circumstances of how she ended up in the storm drain are still unknown as authorities continue to investigate the incident."
