Swell Mix Fades Through Weekend.



Blend of SSW swell and shorter period NW swell will continue to offer modest/fun size surf on Friday then the weekend will drop to small/modest size with the largest surf found north of Point Conception. Winds are not ideal, but early mornings should provide a window of lighter winds and mostly clean conditions for many areas. Longer range is not looking overly impressive right now.

Shot on location in Venice Beach back in 2015 , the action comedy Once Upon A Time In Venice is finally being released. It will be shown at a couple theaters and available on Video-On-Demand on June 16, which usually means the studio doesn't think the movie is going to do well.

Once Upon a Time in Venice’s title is an amusing riff on the mythic Sergio Leone epics about violence and morality, though this movie is an action comedy about a stolen dog from the writers of Cop Out. Goodman plays a retired pro surfer going through a bad divorce.

From the studio's press release: "Steve Ford (Bruce Willis) is a down but not out L.A based Private Investigator whose professional and personal worlds collide after his loving pet Buddy is stolen by a notorious gang. A series of crazy circumstances find him doing the gang’s bidding, while being chased by two vengeful Samoan brothers, a loan shark’s goons, and a few other shady characters. They say a dog is a man’s best friend, and Steve shows how far a man will go to be reunited with him."
The film is scheduled to be released in a limited release and through video on demand on June 16, 2017

Casting directors are looking for cute, surfer looking guys to work on a scene filming next week in Malibu, California. Producers are seeking guys between the ages of 18 to 24 to work on the show. All ethnicities. This is for a Youtube Red show called Foursome. The pay is $100 for an 8 hour day. Interested? On Saturday, over 500 volunteers showed up at tower 28 in Santa Monica to be a part of They Will Surf Again. This Santa Monica event was the first surf stop of Life Rolls On's Get On Board 2017 Tour. They Will Surf Again is an award-winning series of bi-coastal events that empower paraplegics and quadriplegics to experience the freedom of mobility by riding a wave with the assistance of adaptive equipment and the support of hard working volunteers.

More than a day of recreational activity, They Will Surf Again also serves as an exceptional opportunity for individuals with SCI and their families to network and establish new support networks outside traditional group support settings. Founded by world champion quadriplegic surfer Jesse Billauer, Life Rolls On is dedicated to improving the quality of life for young people affected by spinal cord injury. Believing that adaptive surfing and skating could inspire infinite possibilities beyond paralysis.

Surfer Andy Davis, just opened his new solo show, EYE YI YI, at Trancas Country Market in Malibu, CA. Los Angeles based designer Heidi Merrick will be hosting a book signing event to celebrate Surf Shack by Nina Freudenberger at H. Merrick of California on Thursday, June 8th from 4pm to 7pm at 115 W. 9th Street.

Amazing day in Santa Monica celebrating Nick Gabaldon with Surfrider / West Los Angeles / Malibu, Black Surfers Collective, The Surf Bus Foundation, Heal the Bay and the Santa Monica Conservancy. Nick Gabaldon was the first documented surfer of African-American and Mexican descent, at the historical African American beach site, sometimes formerly called the “Inkwell”. Gabaldon’s legacy has inspired many surfers of color and many consider him as a role model.









Safe to say much stoke was once again shared! Thanks to the amazing crew at The Surf Bus Foundation, as well as Heal the Bay, Surfrider / West Los Angeles / Malibu and everyone else who volunteered their time.
