Multiple rescues and 1 death due to the heatwave force the closure of all hiking trails in the Santa Monica Mountains for the holiday weekend. 
On Saturday evening, Malibu Search Rescue made the announcement:
"Effective immediately, we have been advised that all trails in the Santa Monica Mountains will be closed through Labor Day. We responded to several heat related rescues today, including one hiker who unfortunately perished. PLEASE DO NOT HIKE IN THIS HEATWAVE."
