"Los Angeles, February 13, 2024 – The Los Angeles Police Department is currently investigating a burglary incident that occurred in the early hours of Tuesday at two popular Venice eateries, Ggiata Delicatessen and PIZZA LOCAL VENICE, located on Windward Avenue.

According to surveillance footage from the scene captured two individuals forcibly entering both establishments around 2:30 AM by shattering the glass doors. Once inside, the perpetrators proceeded to remove the cash registers from each restaurant.

Following the incident, a member of the Venice Safe Team was promptly on-site, assisting with the cleanup efforts by sweeping up the broken glass, demonstrating community support in the wake of the crime.

As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the burglary. The Los Angeles Police Department is actively conducting investigations to apprehend the individuals responsible for this crime. The department urges anyone with information related to the incident to come forward to assist in their inquiries.

The burglary has left the local community and business owners concerned, highlighting the need for increased security measures in the area. The Los Angeles Police Department remains committed to ensuring the safety of its residents and businesses and is working diligently to resolve the case.

"On Friday, January 9, 2024, members of the Venice Safe Team took action on the Venice Beach Boardwalk, escorting an individual towards Santa Monica after weeks of reported disturbances. The intervention followed a series of complaints regarding the man's disruptive actions along the popular beachfront area, including harassment of boardwalk visitors.

The Venice Safe Team, committed to ensuring a peaceful and secure environment, tracked the individual as he traversed the boundary from Venice into Santa Monica. This response is part of the team's broader effort to maintain order and safety on Venice Beach, a destination known for its vibrant atmosphere and diverse community.

Operating daily from 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. during the winter months, the Venice Safe Team plays a crucial role in the community. Their responsibilities include conducting routine patrols, engaging with the public, managing risks, and responding to a variety of safety concerns and non-emergency situations. Working in collaboration with local law enforcement and emergency services, the team addresses issues such as trespassing, vandalism, public intoxication, aggressive behavior, and compliance with city regulations, all aimed at safeguarding the interests of both visitors and residents of Venice Beach."

Members of the Venice Safe Team approach LAPD officers on the Venice Boardwalk to report that they were assaulted by a homeless man. Three team members, including a female member, were assaulted, one of them got hit in the head with a rock. LAPD, as well as members of the public went looking for the suspect. He was spotted in a nearby alley having another confrontation with a resident of an apartment building, after having trashed the alley. He took off after seeing the group approach him and eventually ran right into the LAPD officers who then arrested him.

"On Wednesday, January 7, 2024, members of the Venice Safe Team were observed escorting an individual away from the Venice Beach Boardwalk in the direction of Santa Monica. The intervention came after reports emerged of the man engaging in lewd behavior in front of women at the boardwalk. The Venice Safe Team, a unit dedicated to maintaining peace and safety in the area, followed the man as he moved from Venice into Santa Monica.

The Venice Safe Team operates daily, with winter hours set from 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., and is instrumental in preserving order at Venice Beach. The team's duties are wide-ranging, covering routine patrols, engaging with the public, managing risks, and responding to various safety concerns and non-emergency incidents in cooperation with local police and emergency services. Their mandate extends to tackling issues such as trespassing, vandalism, public intoxication, and aggressive behavior, as well as ensuring adherence to local laws and policies designed to protect the well-being of both visitors and residents of Venice Beach."
