From Santa Monica Close Up:

"Attention, thrill-seekers and movie enthusiasts! An awe-inspiring spectacle unfolded today at the iconic Santa Monica Pier, as a gigantic shark made its presence felt, leaving visitors both astonished and captivated. The colossal creature, brought to life by skilled artists, provided a jaw-dropping photo opportunity as people couldn't resist posing inside the formidable beast's open maw.

But this wasn't just any shark; it was a promotional masterpiece strategically positioned on the pier to generate excitement for the highly anticipated release of "Meg 2: The Trench." This heart-pounding sequel is set to hit theaters nationwide on August 4, promising an adrenaline-fueled cinematic experience like no other."

From Santa Monica Close Up:

"A troubling incident unfolded near Colorado Avenue and 4th Street on Sunday, leading to the prompt arrest of a suspect by the Santa Monica police. The altercation, involving two, and potentially three, individuals, resulted in minor injuries to the detained suspect and inflicted knife wounds on a dog. As a result, a brief section of Colorado Avenue between 4th and 3rd Street was temporarily closed while law enforcement personnel conducted their investigation.

Eyewitnesses have provided accounts of a heated argument between two men, which quickly escalated into a physical altercation when then one of the men's dogs bit the other. According to the reports, the man allegedly resorted to using a knife in an attempt to free himself from the dog's grip.

The arrested suspect currently faces charges of battery and brandishing a weapon, with the possibility of additional charges pending the acquisition of surveillance footage. The Santa Monica Police Department is actively working to obtain the necessary video evidence, aiming to provide a comprehensive understanding of the circumstances surrounding the altercation.

Following the distressing encounter, the injured dog received immediate attention from the Santa Monica Police Department's Animal Control Officers. Recognizing the urgency, the dedicated officers promptly transported the wounded animal to a local veterinarian for necessary medical intervention. The veterinary professionals will administer the vital treatment needed to ensure the dog's well-being and facilitate its recovery."
