Youth Mentoring Surf Session Volunteers Needed

Being alongside an inner-city youth for the first time as the experience the thrill of the ocean can be life-changing. If you have a passion for the waves and desire to empower youth, this is an exciting opportunity!

Youth Mentoring Connection provides Los Angeles youth the opportunity to ride the waves at local beaches. For many of LA's youth, this program means seeing the beach for the first time in their lives, despite the fact that they live less than a 30 minute drive away. Others who did not know how to swim will learn to be comfortable in the water. Our youth face enormous obstacles and live in high crime areas where they are constantly exposed to gangs, drugs and violence. Surfing is a retreat from the daily environment they face and many use the sea to heal their wounds.

Next session is Sunday - July 21st by Tower 49 at Dockweiler.

Now, because of the huge huge youth attendance, Youth Mentoring Connection is in need of more SURF INSTRUCTORS!!! If you or someone you know would like to volunteer to become a surf instructor, please contact Ray via email at: ray@youthmentoring.org or visit: Youth Mentoring Connection Volunteer Page
