The victim’s body was discovered in the sand off the 20000 block of the Pacific Coast Highway near Big Rock Drive at around 6:15 a.m. Monday morning, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said.

He was found near a row of beachside homes and was pronounced dead at the scene. There was no word on his name or a cause of death.

LA Sanitation & Environment's Statement regarding Hyperion Water Reclamation Plant discharge today.:

Sunday afternoon, the Hyperion Water Reclamation Plant became inundated with overwhelming quantities of debris, causing backup of the headworks facilities. The plant's relief system was triggered and sewage flows were controlled through use of the plant's one-mile outfall and discharge of untreated sewage into Santa Monica Bay. Normally the discharge of treated sewage is through the five-mile outfall. During the eight hours of discharge through the one-mile outfall, approximately 17 million gallons of sewage (representing six percent of a daily load) was discharged as an emergency measure to prevent the plant from going completely offline and discharging much more raw sewage.

Protocols for notifying regulatory agencies and the State's Office of Emergency Services were followed, plant staff was onsite all night and resolved the issue early this morning. Water quality sampling and testing of shoreline (beach) samples are currently being conducted, and our monitoring vessel traveled to both outfalls to make observations and take samples for analyses following regulatory permit protocols. Thanks to these efforts, and significant equipment improvements that have been made in recent years in partnership with several environmental groups, the amount of flow into the ocean was mitigated and the plant remained online.

These improvements included the reconfiguring of in-plant storm basins to pump sewage back into the plant in cases of emergency; screens were installed on all catch basins to prevent untreated debris from entering the storm drains and out to the ocean; and a Headworks Bypass had been installed to prevent raw sewage overflowing out of the Headworks building and into the street.

At this time, all flow is being treated through its standard treatment processes. We are investigating the cause of the debris and repairing damaged equipment.

PUBLIC HEALTH ALERT: 17 million gallons of raw sewage were spilled into the Santa Monica Bay on July 11-12. Currently Dockweiler State Beach and El Segundo Beach are closed to the public. The City of Los Angeles and LA County Department of Public Health are testing beaches and water in the Santa Monica Bay.

This is a developing story from Heal The Bay and we will update information as new details come to light.

When did the spill occur? The sewage spill started at 7 pm on 7/11/2021 and stopped at about 5 am on 7/12/2021. We are told by City of LA’s Bureau of Sanitation that the spill was stopped early this morning at around 5 am and all sewage is now being treated normally.

How much was spilled? We understand 17 million gallons of raw sewage were spilled through the 1-mile outfall, which is directly offshore from the Hyperion Water Reclamation Plant in El Segundo.

Which beaches are impacted? Currently Dockweiler State Beach and El Segundo Beach are closed to the public. The City of Los Angeles and LA County Department of Public Health are testing beaches and water in the Santa Monica Bay.

What should the public do to protect themselves? We recommend the public stay out of the water until further notice. Also, check the Beach Report Card for the latest ocean water quality alerts in California, and review the River Report Card for water quality information about freshwater swimming holes in Los Angeles County.

What issues does this cause to people and to ocean wildlife? Bacteria and viruses in raw sewage are extremely dangerous to people and can carry a variety of diseases. Debris such as tampons and plastic trash, when released into the Bay, can harbor bacteria and can cause entanglement of wildlife, but it seems in this case those debris were successfully filtered out of the spill before it made it to the Bay.

Why did this happen? We understand the inflow to the Hyperion plant in El Segundo was severely clogged and flooded the facility. The sewage left the facility untreated through the 1-mile pipe and outfall.

A Brush Fire broke broke out in Malibu, which is in an area known for homeless encampments. The fire had Tuna Canyon closed about 1 Mile North of PCH in the morning, but the fire is pretty much out at this point.

This set was shot from about 8:20-9:10 AM by ChrisDidThis.

These are just a few of the photos from this session. If you were out there, you probably got some surfing shots, probably multiple photos, they will be in the complete photo gallery for this day, check them out, the link to the gallery is down below.

After the above video was posted, LT Arrest-&-Release announced, "Today, 7/8/21, our beach officers recognized and arrested this suspect. Our detectives are working hard to identify all people who commit crimes on the boardwalk." so that can justbe released within hours to go back to the beach to commit more crimes.

Thursday, at 2:30pm, the Catch-&-Release PD reported there was a homeless tent fire on the sand at Venice Beach.

On Tuesday, this guy was trying to set up an encampment ON the PCH Southbound lane at Chatauqua. Cars going 60mph+ were trying to avoid hitting him.

After several called to LAPD, some local residents eventually convinced him to GTF off the road.

One Man Dead After Early Morning Car-to-Car Shooting in Venice.

On Monday, July 5th, around 2:36AM, LAPD recieved multiple calls of shots fired in the area of 6th Avenue and Brooks Aveneue. Additional calls reported a car to car shooting with a victim injured at Lincoln Blvd and Rose Avenue. Police arrived at that location and found a vehicle overturned with two gunshot wound victims inside.

Paramedics responded and pronounced a male adult victim dead at the scene. The other victim, a female adult, was transported to the hospital with multiple gunshot wounds.

Security camera footage shows a white sedan driving along side the victims car, shooting at the car. The victim's car then crashes and flips over, as the sedan drives off.

The motive for the shooting is unknown. The LAPD says there is no evidence right now that this was an exchange of gun fire. They believe the shots fired came from the white sedan. They don’t know what prompted the violence.

The shooting spree spanned a 5 block area.

"City of Los Angeles Department of Public Works sanitation workers in white hazardous materials suits clear out the tents from the Venice Beach Boardwalk homeless encampment, Friday, July 2, 2021. The demolition of the camp encampment is time consuming becouse all the property must be separated, categorized, labeled and put into storage. What remains is then trashed."

"Today is the first day where the city removes the the tents that are left over from people they got housing for. One homeless couple invited me inside their tent to see what it’s like to be homeless on the beach. After they show me the inside, they gave me an interview. They are really happy that they could get a place in a hotel."

Saturday June 26, 2021 7:24pm - A Venice resident was hit in the head from behind in a random attack on the boardwalk. The attacker did not flee the scene and instead returned to a homeless encampment nearby and sat down with a bottle of alcohol. No arrests were made.

The video below is the victimn trying to get help from the LAPD, unfortunetly as was we have witnessed several times, they are useless AF.

This is just like that time on the Shacked Instagram Stories, when an older surfer was hit on the foot by a glass bottle a homeless man threw at him. The LAPD officers refused to even acknowledge the attacker exist, even though the surfer was bleeding and the attacker was close by still shouting obscenities at everyone. The LAPD officer just stated that evereyone just needs to avoid going near him, he has a right to be on the boardwalk.

More madness on the Venice Boardwalk. At about 7PM on Sunday, a fight broke out near 800 Ocean Front Walk in Venice. Police showed up to break up the fight, arresting one person when the crowd tried to stop the arrest.

25 more officers then showed up for back up.

Why was the crowd trying to stop the arrest, who knows, but hell, the LAPD will just release the person within the hour anyways, like their useless department always does.

"When I came to the beach on Friday, I saw LAPD investigating a crime scene after a man was found dead at the Venice Beach Boardwalk encampment. There was a homeless man stabbing another homeless man."

Pacific officers arrested 38-year-old Michael McClain, who was booked for the murder of 49- year old Michael Hall. Both the victim and suspect were persons homelessness men, according to police. But LAPD will probalby release him like they to everyone they arrest.
