LOLA wave heights in the SPAC this weekend.

Surf stays modest size through the weekend and most of next week with a blend of S Hemi swells and shorter period NW windswell/swell. Most areas with decent exposure offer up at least rideable surf and winds/conditions will be most favorable in the early mornings each day. There is a larger, but extreme angled, SSE/S swell on the radar for second week of July.

Surf Forecast For This Week

S Hemi/NW Swell Mix; Dora Forms off Mexico

HurricaneTrak showing Hurricane Dora off Mexico.

Overlapping swells from the SW-SSW will maintain modest to fun zone surf for better summertime exposures throughout this week. There will also be some smaller NW windswell energy blending in to help cross things up at the openly exposed combo beach-breaks. Typical summer wind/weather pattern prevails with the best conditions in the early mornings. Also, Hurricane Dora has formed off Mexico, so we’ll be keeping a close eye on that to see if it will deliver any swell to California.

Weekend Surf Forecast

Fading, But Still Fun Size Surf

LOLA wave height chart in the South Pacific last week.

Mix of holding and fading Southern Hemi swell and NW swell through the weekend. Overall, the trend will be towards dropping wave heights heading into early next week, but there will still be plenty of fun waves out there to be found. Winds are generally onshore, but early mornings should offer a window of clean surf for most areas, before winds pick up and create some surface bump/texture in the afternoons

Surf Forecast For This Week

LOLA wave height chart of California Wednesday morning.

Good blend of surf on tap this week with both Southern Hemi swells and NW-WNW swell running. Lots of spots see nice size with the better combo exposed beach-breaks even offering up some good peaks. The areas with the most wind issues will be far northern California where onshore flow is persistent. Many areas through central/southern California have light morning winds.
