Scheduled to open by Memorial Day, the Venice Pier remains decidedly closed. For Venetians who had hoped to enjoy a stroll on the beloved pier this summer, that dream is all but waning. “With all the challenges we’ve had to suffer though this year the fact that a project in a public outdoor space like this has been so dragged out is just ridiculous,” said longtime Venice resident Guy Okazaki.

The $5 million dollar restoration project was approved after a June 2018 electrical fire caused by a homeless encampment under the pier burned a 15-foot section near the lifeguard tower. An eyewitness to the scene said that an unhoused person tapped into the electrical system and was attempting to use a microwave oven.

When the scaffolding came down and the construction equipment staging location cleared out nearly a month ago, it seemed as though reopening was imminent. However, weeks passed with little activity. “It’s like nobody’s managing it. There’s been no information, it’s absurd,” Guy continued.

Calls and emails to the Department of Recreation and Parks were not returned.

Early morning Venice Beach fight. Two people arguing about parking when it's illegal to park on this street bordering the boardwalk. The Explorer driver is mad he couldn't park and acts like he's going to hit the vendor unloading and runs over his stuff instead, the vendor fights back! A bystander reported it, the vendor was not questioned and nobody went to jail.

"The World Famous Venice Beach, it’s always worth to visit. It's an iconic place which cannot be duplicated. The energy and the vibe is undescribable. You can do so many activities. Surfing, skating, bodybuilding, handball, tennis, basketball, and many more things. Venice Will always be a unique place to be. You can be Venice Beach."

On August 21 at 2:57 p.m. in the area of Venice Boulevard and Ocean Front Walk, two teens from a 'youth group' became "suddenly ill" and had to be taken to an area hospital by LAFD Paramedics after they became suddenly ill following suspected use or contact with a still undetermined illicit substance. One in grave condition with Advanced Life Support measures underway during transport, while the other patient was in serious condition with an altered level of consciousness.

Both teens were taken to UCLA Santa Monica Medical Center, where one of the subjects died, according to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD). The other teen remains in serious condition.

According to the LAPD, the teens bought what they thought was Percocet in McFarland, California.

"Today, I went to Hampton Drive right in front of Golds Gym in Venice Beach, California. They had a few big homeless encampments right in front of Golds Gym and today LAPD and the sanitation crew came down and cleaned up all the homeless encampments on the sidewalk."

Disturbing video footage of the drunk asshole who hit a mother and her baby on Speedway then drove off.

The asshole is 16 years old and has been arrested for DUI, but the city council assholes will most likely released him like they do with just about everyone they arrest for a crime.

"New homeless people come to Venice every day and still try to set up their tents. Police is enforcing the rules. In this video, I also show how slow Venice Beach is in the middle of August, which would be the busiest time for business in Venice."

Another video of another Venice Beach racist piece of homeless garbage yelling at workers:

A vehicle hit a baby stroller at Speedway & Galleon.

Person was driving the wrong way on Speedway on Friday and hit mom and baby (in the stroller).

Driver attempted to flee. A large crowd that gathered at the scene prevented the driver from runing away.

The mother and baby are expected to survive, the driver was arrested, but as per LAPD's history, will most likely be released in an hour or so.
