One person was arrested for a stabbing incident on a bike path at the Perry's in Ocean Park, Santa Monica on Thursday night, Nov. 17.

On November 17, 2022, at about 9:40 PM, Santa Monica Police Department (SMPD) Officers were dispatched to investigate a stabbing by the public restrooms in the 2100 block of Ocean Front Walk (OFW). Subsequent calls were then received of a male with a knife being detained by a citizen in the 2600 block of OFW.

SMPD Officers arrived and encountered the suspect, identified as Jamal K. Lampitt a 26-year-old homeless male, being held down by a citizen. Lampitt was immediately taken into custody by officers without further incident and the involved knife was recovered. The stabbing victim was located in the 2600 block of OFW with multiple stab wounds. SMFD personnel responded and transported the victim to a local hospital.

Officers learned Lampitt approached the victim, produced a knife, and tried to rob him. The victim refused before Lampitt stabbed him and ran off. Sometime after, Lampitt encountered a male on a bicycle in Beach Parking Lot 5 South (2700 Barnard) and stabbed him multiple times for no apparent reason. The second victim was transported to a local hospital where both victims are recovering with non-life-threatening injuries.

Lampitt was transported to the SMPD Jail where he was booked for Attempted Robbery and Attempted Murder.

Anyone with any additional information pertaining to this incident is strongly encouraged to contact Detective Pollnow at 310-458-8455 or the Watch Commander (24 hours) at 310-458-8426.

Many people asked if the Venice Stationary Van For Rent was a joke.

It was a real listing on Craigslist, it has expired:

https://losangeles.craigslist.org/wst/roo/d/venice-stationary-van-for-rent/7545083648.html

It was from the infamouis Venice Vanlord, this video below was posted by a neighbor of one of his reportedly 14 van rentals:

“I’ve seen a young woman in this one last week, and I did mention to her it’s illegal to live in the van,” states the Venice Stakeholders Association. “These folks have no place to use the bathroom, and so what we find is that they use our planter boxes as a latrine.”

Back in 2019, he was all over all the mainstream news stations, when he said his vehicles have been the target of vandalism by people wjhjo were upset with his van rentals.

"I think they're targeting my vans," Gary Gallerie, also known as the vanlord, said. "I can't prove it because I'm not up at like 2-4 in the morning. I'm not worried about my physical harm," he said. "But I don't want flat tires and the cost of repairs and telling people they can't be in the van today, because I have to move it to a repair shop or whatever."

Peak winds expected Tuesday Night through Wednesday. Be careful or avoid anything that could spark a wildfire. Secure loose objects. Plan now for power outages. Folks near wildland interfaces, review your evacuation plans in case a fire breaks out. Stay safe all.

The National Weather Service issues Red Flag Warnings & Fire Weather Watches to alert fire departments of the onset, or possible onset, of critical weather and dry conditions that could lead to rapid or dramatic increases in wildfire activity.

A Red Flag Warning is issued for weather events which may result in extreme fire behavior that will occur within 24 hours. A Fire Weather Watch is issued when weather conditions could exist in the next 12-72 hours. A Red Flag Warning is the highest alert. During these times extreme caution is urged by all residents, because a simple spark can cause a major wildfire. A Fire Weather Watch is one level below a warning, but fire danger is still high.

The type of weather patterns that can cause a watch or warning include low relative humidity, strong winds, dry fuels, the possibility of dry lightning strikes, or any combination of the above.

During heightened fire danger, CAL FIRE will place additional firefighters on duty, staff more fire engines and keep more equipment on 24 hours a day to be able to respond to any new fires. CAL FIRE urges Californians to be extremely cautious, especially during periods of high fire danger. It's important all residents and visitors take steps to prevent wildfires. One less spark could mean one less wildfire. See below for tips on preventing wildfires.
