A GofundMe has been started for the owner of the Prius that was smashed by a fallen rock on Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu.

"Many of you driving up and down PCH have probably noticed the boulder that crashed into a Toyota Prius and totaled it… That car belonged to my friend Maurice, and although he is incredibly grateful for the fact that he was not in the car when it was crushed, the reality of the loss has set in and he could use some help…

My name is Charlene and I have created this page to raise funds to cover the rental car cost, the deductible, and the difference between his insurance reimbursement and the cost of a replacement car.

The insurance he purchased on the car was the maximum he could afford, but not enough to purchase another used Prius equal to the one he lost. Additionally he did not have rental car coverage, and there is his deductible, $500 that he cannot afford at this time. Maurice is a single dad living on a fixed income. Any amount you feel inclined to contribute would be incredibly helpful and much appreciated. Thank you so much!"

The Vons on Lincoln and Broadway in Santa Monica is closing down.

The store plans to shut down by the end of the month. Everything in the is 10% to 25% off, with a few of the seasonal stuff at 90%. But don't rush over thinking there's tons of good bargains. It's 25% off the full prices right now, which ends up being more then their usually Vons Club pricing and what seems like most of the items.

The buildling will be destroyed, and the 710 Broadway project will be built on the land.

The 710 Broadway will be an eight-story apartment and shopping complex, with a new Vons on the ground floor.

According to the developer, 710 Broadway will deliver 280 residential units, of which 30% will be reserved for low-income and middle-income households, a 53,500 square foot grocery store, and approximately 34,000 square feet of neighborhood-serving retail to Santa Monica. The new grocery store will be prominently located at the corner of Lincoln and Broadway and will continue to be operated by the Albertsons Companies. The additional community-serving retail will activate the corner of 7th and Broadway.

710 Broadway consists of market rate and affordable housing above the ground floor grocery store, plus additional local serving retail/restaurant/fitness uses located on both the ground floor and below-grade, and subterranean parking. The 280 residential units offer a range of layouts from studios to three-bedrooms. 84 of the residential units will be deed restricted as affordable for 30% Income Households, 50% Income Households, 80% Income Households or Moderate Income Households.

The grocery store is approximately 53,500 square feet on the ground floor, with 1,500 square feet of outdoor dining space and additional below-grade storage. 710 Broadway also offers approximately 34,000 square feet of additional local serving retail/ restaurant/fitness uses with approximately 523 bicycle spaces and 354 vehicle parking spaces. Sustainable landscaping and open spaces will be located along Lincoln Boulevard and Broadway.
The LAPD has released the footage of the incidident in Venice Beach when a Driver Suspected of DUI /Resisting Arrest Dies After Being Tased.

In the video, an Uber driver says that the suspect that caused the accident had tried to steal his car. Later in the video, it is revealed that the suspect on cocaine and other drugs.

Here is the video and the official statement:

"On January 3, 2023, at around 3:38 p.m., a West Traffic Division motor officer was flagged down for a traffic collision in the area of Venice Boulevard and Lincoln Boulevard in Pacific Area. He observed a male, later identified as Keenan Anderson, running in the middle of the street and exhibiting erratic behavior. Several citizens involved in the traffic collision motioned to Anderson, indicating that he caused the accident. The officer contacted Anderson, verbalized with him, and requested additional units for a DUI investigation. Anderson initially followed the officer’s commands and sat at the northeast corner of Venice and Lincoln Boulevard for several minutes as the officer spoke with him.

As additional units arrived at scene, Anderson suddenly attempted to flee the location. Officers gave chase as Anderson ran eastbound in the middle of the street on Venice Boulevard. As officers contacted Anderson, he began to resist, resulting in a use of force. Officers struggled with Anderson for several minutes, utilizing a TASER, bodyweight, firm grips, and joint locks to overcome his resistance.

Anderson was subsequently handcuffed and hobbled at the ankles. Shortly after Anderson was taken into custody, Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) personnel responded to the scene and rendered medical aid for deployment of the TASER. Anderson was transported via a rescue ambulance (RA) to a local hospital in the City of Santa Monica. While at the hospital, Anderson went into cardiac arrest and was pronounced deceased.

One officer received minor abrasions to his hands during the use of force.

Detectives from Force Investigation Division responded to the scene and are investigating this incident."
