On Friday afternoon, at approximately 5PM, LAFD and Santa Monica Firefighters mounted an attack by ground and air on a brush fire in the steep terrain off of Pacific Coast Highway in Pacific Palisades.

It took 49 LAFD firefighters 50 minutes to snuff out the flames, holding the burn to approximately 1.5 acres. Crews will remain on scene to ensure any remaining hot spots are eliminated.

No reported injuries. The cause of the fire is under investigation.


On Friday afternoon, Pacific Coast Highway was shut down in both directions at the 20048 block due to a traffic collision that knocked power lines down across the road.

Many of the unhoused have been using the restrooms as living quarters. LAHSA (Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority) provided homeless outreach during the clean-up. Park Rangers were onsite during the cleanup. The Venice Beach clean-ups are conducted every Friday."
