On Sunday morning, Surfline’s Venice Beach Breakwater cam captured what appears to be a juvenile great white shark breaching from the water, just outside the lineup. There were only a couple surfers in the water at the time and nobody seemed to see what happened. Surfline was notified about the breach from local Venice surfer, Matt Hoffman, who explained: “I rode my bike down to the beach to check the waves this morning and saw something jump out there. Figured it was a shark but wasn’t totally sure and no one in the water seemed to notice. There were only a couple guys out and the shark seemed to be pretty far out the back. I got home and found it on the cam rewind. Looked like a little white. Ended up surfing an hour later. Was hoping to see more activity, but it was just that one breach.”

Small but fun waves on this beautiful winter morning at Tower 26. Here's a few photos from Ocean Park, shot by Six12 Media

Hyperflex stripped their wetsuits down to all-black rubber – with no branding visible – and asked surfers at Venice Beach to try them out in order to get some feedback and see what surfers thought: Who made the suit? What does it cost? You like? They weren’t bummed on the results, either. Hyperflex new VYRL 3/2 suit retails for $159.95, and the 4/3 is $174.95. If you’re looking for a quality suit that won’t break the bank now that things are cooling off, our Hyperflex VYRL series ain’t a bad way to go.

A Walk on Water Closes their 2017 Surf Season in Malibu with a Surf Therapy Day Event held on Saturday, November 11. Special Needs Children and their Families experienced an unforgettable day of surf therapy and restoration at Surfrider Beach.
Celebrities including Anthony Kedis (Red Hot Chili Peppers), “Below Deck” stars Adam Glick and Sandy Yawn, musician Matt Costa, Jeff “Swampy” Marsh, World Championship Tour top-ranked pro surfer Courtney Conlogue, surf legend Allen Sarlo along with AWOW’s surfing ambassa-dog Haole supported AWOW athletes as surf instructors, meeting and greeting with them, and/or assisted with the day’s festivities. Please note that all kids participating in surf therapy are referred to as athletes they have been called “special needs” all their lives. Over 115+ athletes participated in surf therapy heats, 200 volunteers and 40 experienced instructors who helped them safely navigate the waves and guided them safely in and out of the ocean. Families, supporters, partners and media filled the beach to cheer on these athletes as they rode some of the most ideal waves and experienced the most beautiful weather conditions than we could’ve imagined. . . The athletes along with their families enjoyed a day of positive energy, cheers, some tears of happiness, restoration and experienced the true healing powers of the ocean.
