"The city has ignored the complaints and are covering up the environmental disaster spill from the Rose ave storm drain in Venice, CA. They drove the tractor over it and blocked the drain with sand again. Tons of trash, black sludge and needles are still all over the beach and they buried a lot you can't see. Do not go on the beach without boots. The entire beach has been poorly cared for the past year and is not much better."

"The city of Los Angeles and council member Mike Bonin has refused to fix the Rose Ave storm drain for years, ignoring all complaints and intentionally allowing trash and chemicals to go into the ocean and be buried in the sand. Now that the city has refused all cleaning and responsibilities blaming budget deficiencies while collecting more than ever, and homelessness has been purposely consolidated in the area and left to run wild, the problem is now way worse and spreading all over the beach and bike path, narrowly avoiding the children's playground.

As seen in previous videos, all the catch basins for the storm drain in that area are full of trash daily that the city refuses to clean. They stopped street sweeping months ago leaving huge build ups of oil and automotive chemicals, and stopped cleaning the catch basins so they can claim more funding, now this is the result. This has been going on for years, but is way worse with the recent city neglect and is not going to get any better as long as people keep supporting them."

HIGH SURF ADVISORY in effect through 3AM Wednesday. A Large 6-8' WNW swell builds today and lasts through tomorrow. Elevated surf conditions, strong currents, and rip currents will be present at all Los Angeles County Beaches.

OCEAN WATER QUALITY RAIN ADVISORY has been issued and is in effect through 1:00pm October 28th. Beach users are advised to avoid water contact for at least 72 hours after significant rainfall. This advisory may be extended depending on further rainfall.

Because of the recent rainfall, Los Angeles County Health Officer, Muntu Davis, MD, MPH, is cautioning residents that bacteria, chemicals, debris, trash, and other public health hazards from city streets and mountain areas are likely to contaminate ocean waters at and around discharging storm drains, creeks, and rivers after a rainfall. Individuals who enter the water in these areas could become ill.

Use the map below to obtain the current water quality status of your favorite beach location. Use your mouse wheel to zoom into a particular location. Click on the marker to identify the sampling location.

"The Venice Blvd major homeless encampment clean up is scheduled after being postponed for months due to a "covid outbreak", but gets rained out. Sanitation cannot move anyone in the rain according to the laws, so they had to do a spot cleaning instead. A spot cleaning is cleaning up around tents and structures, and asking if people have any trash. Everyone prepared piles of trash in the street and sanitation spent the morning in the rain throwing it away."

"Park Rangers show up early to warn everyone the regular Friday clean up is coming, but don't show back up for 5 hours, hoping to catch someone slipping. But instead sit around and do nothing when everyone is gone. And a jerk park ranger told me he hates my videos showing him doing nothing and later intentionally hits me with his truck on a busy Friday afternoon on the boardwalk. And yes I'm legally allowed to ride a skateboard there and no they are not."
