Three generations, one film and countless adventures around the world "Generations, The Movie" is Quiksilver's latest surf feature. The movie features Quiksilver's top WSL stars and freesurfers including Mikey Wright, Jeremy Flores, Jesse Mendes, Mikey February, Kael Walsh, Zeke Lau, Connor O'Leary, Kanoa Igarashi, Koa Rothman, Leonardo Fioravanti and more.

Meanwhile a legends section highlights some of the brand's longtime riders that are undisputed icons in the sport including 4 x World Champion Mark Richards and 2 x World Champion Tom Carroll among others. Rounding out the generations concept, there's a glimpse into the exciting future with Kade Matson, Marco Mignot, Sebastian Williams, Rio Waida and more in the Young Guns part.

"Quiksilver has a long history dating back to 1984 of showing the best surfers in the world riding the most impressive waves," says Quiksilver General Manager Garry Wall. The brand's first video, "Performers," marked a new chapter in surf movies as it was the first to be released direct to home video on VHS.

"The way we share content has changed, but the idea with a surf film is the same: showcase the best in the world and inspire others to get out and surf. Funny enough, some of the riders in that first film are still ripping and have waves in the legends section."

Catch the screening the film at Boardriders Malibu on August 16

Perillo, Sarlo, Meador and the Brothers Marshall revive classic surfcraft at Malibu

“Malibu is one of the best waves on the California coast,” Bird says. The legendary cobblestone right-hander typically calls for flatter boards with straighter rails and Bird knows just what to curate from his shed of diverse surf craft for that. A couple of sub six-foot classics and two traditional single fin logs.

Malibu’s resident rippers Dillon Perillo and Colton Sarlo trade-off an early model 5’10” Mark Richards twin fin from Gordon & Smith, and a pink 5’10” Terry Fitzgerald shape with a unique fin setup, a board shaped for first ‘CT World Champion Pete Townend.

For the loggers, Bird pulls out a 9’6″ Gary Propper model from Hobie Surfboards. “This thing at Malibu should blow some peoples’ minds,” Bird says about the board. After scoring a few waves on it, Chad and Trace Marshall share the same sentiment. However, the regularfoot Brothers Marshall didn’t experience the same magic on the 8’6″ Hobie Corky Carroll model, but goofyfoot Kassia Meador scored a few noserides on it and summarized the board as “epic.”

Here's some of the result of the Surf Relik Modern & Classic Longboard World Tour at First Point, Malibu.

Here's some of the result of the Surf Relik Modern & Classic Longboard World Tour at First Point, Malibu.

Here's video footage from this day in Malibu, filmed by Edgar Salas Avila.

It's a go! June 24 & 25 have been called as the run dates for the first stop of the Surf Relik Modern & Classic Longboard World Tour at First Point, Malibu. Head over to Malibu for a one-of-a-kind experience where art, culture and the world’s best longboard surfers intertwine.

Back in 2004 while on Ozzfest, Lamb of God vocalist Randy Blythe kept posting photos of himself attempting to surf. When DevilDriver frontman Dez Fafara saw them, he reached out and said they needed to ride the waves together, and they've been doing so ever since. Revolver recently joined the two singers in Malibu, California, to get an inside look at their love of surfing and how that love has bonded them together. "Surfing is a lifestyle," says Fafara, whose family started SunCult, a surfing board, wax and apparel brand. "It's the one thing that's kept me grounded," he adds. Blythe agrees. "Surfing is more about opening up myself to my surroundings and staying in the moment. There's not really much more of a visceral way to connect with the planet than riding waves."

It's official: The waiting period of the Surf Relik First Point, Malibu event has begun! The time frame between now and June 25 allows the event to take advantage of the best possible windows for commencing 2018’s Relik Modern + Classic Longboard World Tour.

Surf Relik has been keeping a close eye on two storms in the South Pacific that will send some classic summer lines to the famed right hander. Stay tuned here for updates and which days the events are running!
