The first south swell of the season will bring rising surf to south facing beaches, 3-6 feet but higher surf possible in some areas. Strong rip currents expected.

On April 11, 2021, deputies assigned to the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station were dispatched to Zuma Beach, Malibu, after receiving reports of a suspicious male harassing female patrons of the beach.

Upon their arrival the deputies were directed to an individual whom they identified as Mr. Kyle Kiddy, a resident of Riverside County, California. While speaking to Mr. Kiddy the deputies observed him to be armed with a rifle which was partially concealed by his long trench coat, a violation of California Penal Code section 25400, for which he was detained.

During the subsequent detention and investigation, the deputies discovered Mr. Kiddy was concealing an additional three firearms and associated ammunition on his person, as well as other items of evidence within his vehicle which was parked nearby.

All the guns he had on him were loaded. Lt. Jim Braden of the Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station estimated that Kiddy had between 1,200 and 1,500 rounds of ammunition in the car and on his body.

On April 13, 2021, the facts of the above incident were presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office who filed multiple charges against Mr. Kiddy who remains in police custody.

Kyle Kiddy, 34, is being held in lieu of $60,000 bail.

This shot of PCH from a few weeks ago is what the city is expecting will happen this upcoming weekend.

LA County Public Health director Barbara Ferrer is begging people to stay home. She talked to KBUU 99.1 about this upcoming weekend:

“I do want to really beg people who are in LA County: please do not go to Ventura to use their outdoor spaces.”

“You’ll overwhelm a county that has that is trying to sort of relax some of the restrictions for the residents … and do so in a sensible way. And you could because you’ll be in closer contact with lots of other people you could inadvertently come back infected yourself.”

Ferrer is the person with the key to the beaches in Malibu and the rest of L A County … and she is not going to open the gates.

Extra sheriff’s deputies are being brought in to Malibu this weekend to make sure that the anticipated hordes of people heading to the beaches beyond the county line keep moving … and do not stop at Zuma … Westward or any of the other beaches in Malibu.
