Harley-Davidson announce they are the Official Motorcycle of the WSl, and to promote it, they are giving away free stickers. You can fill out the form linked down below and they will mail yo a sticker. The sticker itself is pretty cool, we at Shacked filled out the form last week and just received the sticker. Nice 5" vinyl sticker, just like the photo above.

Unfortunately, looks like their marketing department knows absolutely nothing about surfing. This is one of the photos they shot for this campaign.

Hipsters with Wavestorms is how creative teams at the WSL and Harley Davidson see surfers.

Nevertheless, it's a cool little sticker, and it's free. Here's the link to get one:

Come support the legend Glen Kennedy, who passed away earlier this month at either the Paddle Out at Surfrider or Celebration Service (details below).

The following is from the Facebook Event Page :

Join us in celebrating the amazing life of Legendary Glen Kennedy. We will be eating, drinking and telling tales of all the classic times.

Storytelling: We would love for people to share stories about Glen. The Event Center has 3 projector screens and a PA system. If you would like to share a story and photo(s), we will start at 3pm for the first session, and 7pm for the second. Please sign up to speak and / or to send photos email: glenkennedymemorial@gmail.com

Attending: Since we expect more guests than the event center can hold at once, we will have 2 gathering times: From 2-5pm and from 6-9pm. Please RSVP on the Facebook Event below which gathering you will come to and how many people.

We also need people to carpool or use a rideshare service, as parking is limited to 100 spaces. Food and beverages will be provided, but feel free to bring your drink of choice.

Finally, a local theater is showing this film. The ArcLight Santa Monica is now showing Bethany Hamilton: Unstoppable.

Unstoppable is Bethany’s complete and untold story that follows her journey from childhood into motherhood – the ups, downs and her powerful resilience against all odds to become one of the leading professional surfers of all time. In 2016 alone Bethany’s capacity to inspire reached new heights as she beat a six-time world champion and the top-ranked surfer in the world at a major competition. From chasing her toddler, to chasing the biggest waves, Bethany is continuously rewriting the rules on being a fearless athlete, and brings new meaning to the phrase “surfs like a girl.”

Pre-purchase tickets from ArcLight or via Fandango.

Wednesday: 3’ waves at summer/combo breaks, 4’+ at standouts. Light/variable wind in AM hours. Fun long period South swell (190-175) continues to fill in through the day as well as some mid/short period SSE/S swell from Tropical Storm Dalila. The blend is good for waist-chest high waves at the south-facing and combo exposures of North LA.

Conditions should be cleaner right out of the gates compared to Tuesday morning, with light/variable flow in the earlier morning. Light SW veering Westerly winds trend up through the morning – adding texture/minor bump – then picking in the afternoon with moderate W/WNW winds.

Thursday: 3-4’ waves at summer/combo breaks. Light/variable onshore flow through the morning hours. Long period south swell (190-175) tops out through the day while modest NW windswell mixes in. We’ll also see that small tropical swell from Dalila, but that tropical energy won’t be more than modest-sized and primarily help with shape at the beach breaks. Surf is up a notch with waist-shoulder high waves at south-facing/combo exposures of North LA.

Light SE/ESE winds through north LA will also put lumps on the south-facing breaks.

Lightning strike observed in Marina Del Rey this morning around 9:30am. The LA County Lifeguards are clearing the beaches, until the storm passes.

A man wearing a clown costume and hanging out the sunroof of a car led authorities on a pursuit from Orange County to Venice Beach before being taken into custody on Saturday, officials said.

A caller reported seeing the clown hanging out on the sunroof of a car while driving, CHP Officer Stephan Brandt said.

The driver refused to stop when officers tried to pull him over, kicking off a pursuit, the officer said.

The clown-masked suspect headed into Los Angeles County via the northbound 405 Freeway, then took the 90 Freeway to Venice Beach, Brandt said. The driver jumped out of the car and ran onto the beach, where he was captured by officers in front of a crowd of onlookers.

A female passenger who had been riding in the car was not arrested, he said.

The motivation for the driver's unusual behavior was not clear.

Surfrider LA addresses the chronic erosion at Surfrider Beach:

"There has been a lot of discussion about Malibu in the weeks since LA County Beaches & Harbors dropped a dozen 2-ton boulders on the beach to keep the historic Wall at First Point from slipping into the sea. While this emergency situation could've been avoided with proactive planning and resource management, it has served to catalyze the community around short and long-term solutions that we can all (mostly) agree upon.

On July 8th, the Malibu City Council unanimously approved staff recommendations to issue an RFP (Request for Proposal) for a hydrological study of Malibu Lagoon and a coastal morphology study of Surfrider Beach. In addition, Council directed City staff to issue an LCPA (Local Coastal Plan Amendment) for a lagoon management plan. These are critical steps in what will be a long process to address chronic erosion at Surfrider Beach.
