"City of Los Angeles Department of Public Works sanitation workers in white hazardous materials suits, with Action Cleanup Environmental Services Clean-up homeless encampments at Venice Beach on Friday, December 9, 2022. LAHSA (Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority) provided homeless outreach. Park Rangers were onsite during the cleanup. The Venice Beach clean-ups are conducted every Friday."

The 60th annual Marina del Rey Holiday Boat Parade is this Saturday 12/10 at 6 PM, with a fireworks show at 5:55 PM before the parade begins. Enjoy musical entertainment, food truck fare, festive photo ops, & a kids craft corner.

Watch the 60th annual Marina del Rey Holiday Boat Parade. Popular viewing spots include Fisherman’s Village, Burton Chace Park, or anywhere along the South Jetty. Catch a brief fireworks display at 5:55 p.m. before the parade begins. Enjoy musical entertainment from carolers, food truck fare and photo opportunities from 4-8 p.m. at Burton Chace Park. The annual Polar Bear Swim at the Annenberg Community Beach House will take place on Sunday, December 18, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Beach House Polar Bear Swim has become a tradition just as cold water swims have been for centuries across the globe.

The Polar Bear Swim is a no-judgment zone with all ages and abilities welcome. Participants can choose to dip their toes in the ocean, take a quick plunge, or go for the 300-yard swim around the buoy. After the ocean experience, attendees can warm up with a hot chocolate, take a dip in the Beach House historic heated pool, or take a selfie with the event's very own polar bear mascot. Creative swimwear is encouraged.

Registration includes admission to the Annenberg Community Beach House heated pool and hot showers as well as hot chocolate on the pool deck. Regular pool rules apply at this event. Youth under the age of eight and under four feet tall must be accompanied by an adult in the pool at all times.

Admission: $10/adults, $5/senior adults 60+, $4/youth ages 1-17. In-person registration will be available but may be limited on the day of the event.

Enter our CAN THE TRASH! Clean Beach Poster Contest for a chance to have your message shared with millions of beachgoers!

To enter the poster contest, draw a picture with a message about how we can keep our oceans and beaches pollution-free and healthy. Be creative!



Contest winners will have their artwork displayed around trash barrels on the beach. Simply submit your artwork online, in person, or by mail. The contest is open to students in grades 3 – 5 who reside in the County of Los Angeles. Online submissions must be entered by an adult.

While entries are accepted year-round, the deadline to enter the contest for summer 2023 is Jan. 31, 2023.
