Update Structure Fire 03/12/2023 INC#0305

The business owner was in the building and heard a popping sound prior to the fire igniting. Cause of the fire is attributed to lithium-ion battery overheating. The pet dog of the business owner was sadly found deceased in the structure after fire extinguishment.

No further details or updates anticipated.

"A fire started in the early morning hours on Muscle Beach in Venice Beach, California. It was a bicycle store that completely burned down. Firefighters could not save the store, but they made sure the fire did not go over to the other stores."

With this next storm comes hazardous marine conditions. High surf, gusty winds, and large seas will affect the coastal waters and beaches. Use caution around the water, and know your limits.


Due to the recent rainfall, Los Angeles County Health Officer, Muntu Davis, MD, MPH, is cautioning residents that bacteria, chemicals, debris, trash, and other public health hazards from city streets and mountain areas are likely to contaminate ocean waters around discharging storm drains, creeks, and rivers after the rainfall. Individuals who enter the water in these areas could become ill.

This advisory will be in effect until at least Monday, March 13, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. This advisory may be extended depending on further rainfall.



BEACH AREAS WARNINGS:

• Torrance Beach at Malaga Cove.

• Mother’s Beach in Marina Del Rey.

• Santa Monica Canyon Creek at Will Rogers State beach.

• Santa Monica Pier in Santa Monica.

• Pico-Kenter storm drain at Santa Monica Beach.

• Marie Canyon Storm Drain at Puerco Beach.

These warnings have been issued due to bacterial levels exceeding health standards when last tested.
