For the first time ever, we had a Super Masters division. This new division was for the 50-and-over guys. Mark Sabatini was surfing with a "broken hip", had a close call where he could have broken the other hip (see above photo), but still managed to pull off a second place finish. Paul Tomson, brother of professional surfing Word Champion Shawn Tomson, took top spot, while local favorite Donnie Wilson rounded out the top 3.
